Annual Holiday Food Drive to Be Held on December 9th at 7 pm!

The Lookout Fire Co. #1 and the Pen Argyl Salvation Army, have teamed up once again for our annual Christmas can food drive. This years drive will be held on the night of Monday  December 9th, starting at 7 p.m.  Along with canned foods we will be also accepting non perishable food items. On the night of the drive, we ask that you please place your bag of items on your front porch with a porch light on. At 7pm members of the company will be driving around town in the fire trucks to pick up the items, so be on the lookout! Items may also be dropped off at the fire station that night before 7pm. This year we hope to have our biggest turnout ever and can not do it without your help. Fire Prevention Program To Be Held on 10/12

Thursday, October 3, 2013  This year the we will hold our Fire Prevention Program on Saturday October 12th at Weona Park from 12:00-3:00 in conjunction with Lukie's Fall Fest! There will be equipment on display as well with several demonstrations! Also on hand will be Suburban EMS and hopefully PennStar will make an appearance around 12:30 (emergencies pending)! So come out and support the fire company and of course Lukie's foundation as they fight to find a cure for SMA.

Passing of Retired Member John " Jack" Price

Saturday, September 28, 2013  The Officers and Membership of the Lookout Fire Co. #1 of Pen Argyl  regret to announce the passing of retired member John " Jack " Price. Mr. Price served the company from the mid 1990's till 2009 as fire police, and also served as the company's Chaplain  during that time.  In addition Mr. Price also served on Pen Argyl Borough Council for 14 years. We ask that everyone keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.  Arrangements are as follows:

Passing of Retired Member Harold H. Weber Sr.

Mr. Weber was active for many dedicated years, which during his time he served on numerous committees and leadership positions. 78th Annual Labor Day Weekend Celebration starts this Friday night

Monday, August 26, 2013  Lookout Fire Co. #1’s 78th Labor Day Weekend Celebration will kick off this Friday night (8/30) starting at 6:00 pm at Weona Park! Friday night The Jim Roberti Band will kick off the weekend’s entertainment starting at 7 pm till 10! We will also feature a $15 ride special till 9:45. Saturday the fun will continue at 6:00 pm till 11:00 pm. (The Job) The Jay Orrell Band will take the stage at 7 pm and play till 10:30 pm. As usual the fireworks will blast off around 10:30 with a rain date of Sunday night at 10. Sunday starting at 3 pm will kick off our Family Day with another $15 ride special from 4-8 pm. From 3-9 pm there will be a $15 food special, which includes two sausage sandwiches, two hot dogs or two hamburgers with four beverages! This is a great deal for families on a tight budget! Also don’t forget the firefighter competition at 2 pm behind the rides in the ball field. Watch local fire companies compete against each other in various firefighting skills. At 4:30 on Sunday there will be our Baby Parade and the Big Wheel race at 6:30. Taking the stage at 5 pm that night will be the Route 3 Project. On Labor Day Monday the areas largest parade will step off at 1 pm! The parade will end at the park with Inch and the Echoes on stage at 3 pm. The parade award ceremony will begin around 5:30 pm on the main stage. The celebration will come to a close at 8 pm with our grand raffle drawing, tickets for the drawing will be available all weekend at the park! Don’t forget to visit the beer garden which will be facing the band shell next to the bathrooms (sorry kids, must be 21 years old to enter). So far the weather looks to be fantastic this weekend, so come out and support the Lookout Company and all of the other local businesses that will be partaking in this weekends festivities!

   


 

Active Firefighter James G. Dietrich Answers His Final Call

Saturday, May 18, 2013  It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that the officers and members of Lookout Fire Co. #1 announce the passing of Active Firefighter James "Jimmy" Dietrich. Mr.Dietrich served the company for 58 years beginning in 1955 until his passing.  In 2005 in recognition of his 50 years of service to the company the firefighter of the year award was officially named  the James G.Dietrich Firefighter of the Year Award. The award will honor one member each year, as voted on by the members of the company, for their dedication to the company and the community. Jimmy was a great friend, man, mentor to many and will be deeply missed. Please keep his family and friends  in your thoughts and prays during this time. Arrangements have yet to be finalized by the family at this time.

Company Hosts Annual Banquet and Names the James G. Dietrich Firefighter of the Year

Saturday, April 6, 2013 





On Saturday April 6th, 2013 The Lookout Fire Co. #1 held their annual banquet at the Stroudsmoor County Inn, Stroudsburg Pa. Current and retired members, along with officials from Pen Argyl Borough, local, state representatives and special guests were in attendance. After a wonderful dinner, several members were recognized for achievements throughout the previous year. Firefighters Robert Kauffman and Grant Parsons were presented with personalized badges for their 10 years of service to the department. Also recognized were Lisa Perin and the Perin Family in memory of the late Ron Perin for his initiative to begin the restoring of Lookout Fire Co.’s 1949 Hahn Fire Engine. Concluding the awards the fire company named the James G. Dietrich Firefighter of the Year, named in honor of Mr. Dietrich's now 58 years of service. This year’s recipient has served the company since 1988 and has been a dedicated member of those 21 years. During his time in the company, he has completed many training programs and has received numerous certifications. In addition, he has served on numerous committees, including Labor Day Parade, Firemans Competition, Car cruise nights, golf tournament and many others. During his time, he has served as the Company President, Captain, Lieutenant, and currently holds the position of 2nd Assistant Chief. This year’s recipient is married to his wife Joan and the father of their daughter Shawana, he is employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and serves as the Assistant manager for Northampton County. It is with Great Honor to Name this year’s Recipient of the James G. Dietrich Firefighter of the Year as Mr. Shawn Campanaro



     



 

Annual Easter Egg Hunt To Be Held March 30th!

Lookout Fire Co. #1 will hold it's annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday March 30th at 11:00 A.M. for ages 0-10! So bring the kids down to Weona Park in Pen Argyl for all of the fun!

   


 

****Firefighter Mitchell Zanette Answers Last Call Update*****

Wednesday, February 27, 2013  It is with great sorrow that the officers and members of Lookout Fire Co. #1 announce the passing of Firefighter Mitch Zanette. Mitch lost his battle with cancer in the early morning hours on February 21st while at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Florida for Speed week as part of the Daytona 500. Mitch was a huge NASCAR fan and even though he was sick he wanted to make it to the Daytona 500 in person. He made the trip with family and close friends was in Daytona for the past week as a part of his "bucket tour". He was a one of a kind and truly a great man, friend, and firefighter. His presence around the station and fire company activities will truly be missed by all of us at Station 32. Please send your thoughts and prayers to his family and friends as they cope during this difficult time.
