Crews Handle Mutual Aid Dwelling Fire
Sunday, February 17, 2013
-
In the early morning hours on 2/17 fire ripped through a barn converted into apartments in Plainfield Township. Engine 3211 was dispatched just before 0430 hours to respond to the scene of a working dwelling fire in the 1500 block of Pen Argyl Road in Plainfield Township. Engine 3211, Utility 3241 responded with a total of 15 volunteers. Upon the arrival of 3211, the conditions of the fire had worsened and winds were driving the fire throughout the structure, 36 command struck the evacuation tones and to commence a defensive attack. Crews from 32 continued to work the B and C sides of the building while working with other company's on scene to help control the blaze. Weather conditions of wind and low temperature played a major effect throughout the operation. Crews remained on scene to the late morning checking for hot spots and overhaul operations. A total of 10 people were displaced by the fire. Two residents suffered injuries, with one of them needing a medical helicopter to be transported to the regional burn center, the condition of that patient is unknown.---Photos Courtesy of Express-Times photographer Bill Adams
